The Community Stall is available to any of our customers who may wish to sell excess from their kitchens, gardens or orchards. This can include eggs, flowers, jams and preserves alongside fruit and vegetables and foraged foods.
There is no charge to use the stall, just let us know when you are coming, what you would like to sell and off you go.
For those interested in using the community stall please speak to Rupert at Rupert's Farm stall, call him on 086 1685312 or email info@mahonpointfarmersmarket.com
We would like to invite transition year groups to make use of our free farmers market Community stall to experience the process of producing their own food, right through to setting up a stall and selling it at their local market
We suggest visiting the market with the students first where they can have a look at the various stalls, talk with a someone from the market to learn why buying direct from the producer gives the assurance of knowing where your food has come from and how farmers markets help make
small food businesses viable.
The students can then return at a later date to set up their stall. Produce sold must be grown, harvested or produced by the students themselves and is restricted to food and plant items only.
This activity is a 'real' one. Pupils are involved in planning the project from start to finish. They take responsibility for what happens and the decisions are theirs. Involving the children in planning, designing and running the stall enables the school to communicate the importance of sustainably-produced local food and provides a context for looking at food chain issues and understanding where food comes from.
This stall may also be made available for workshops and demonstrations with a food, farming, gardening or environmental theme.
For Transition year or school groups call 087 7620455 or info@mahonpointfarmersmarket.com
